Ashton Hippenstiel

Setter Positional Coach

Ashton Hippenstiel is our Setter Positional Coach, working directly with our setters on hands, footwork, and running an offense under pressure. He joins us from east Tennessee, where he was head volleyball coach at David Crockett High School in Jonesborough through last season, and earlier served on staff with Tusculum University's women's programme. A 6-4 setter himself, he played collegiately at Cal State Northridge before finishing his career at King University, where as a senior he ranked 30th nationally in assists at 6.99 per set and also led his team in blocks — the two-way demand he now coaches our setters toward.

Coaching Philosophy

A setter's job is to make the hitter's job easy. Everything else — the hands, the footwork, the tempo — is in service of that.
